Introduction
Welcome to the Calendar Manager page on SCView, your comprehensive guide to managing and customizing your calendar filters. This useful tool allows you to effectively organize and display various document types, events, and schedules tailored to your needs.
A. Problem Statement
Users often face difficulties in maintaining an organized calendar that accurately reflects their specific tasks and document types. This can lead to confusion, missed deadlines, and inefficient management of time and resources.
B. Solution
The Calendar Manager feature in SCView addresses this issue by allowing users to create personalized calendar filters. These filters help in segregating different types of documents and events, making the calendar more user-friendly and tailored to individual requirements.
Step 1:
To create a filter that will be displayed on your calendar page, navigate to Admin, then select Calendar Mgr.
Step 2:
On the Calendar Filters page, you can easily create a new filter by clicking the New hyperlink, located directly beneath the page header. To modify an existing filter, simply click the pencil icon next to the filter you wish to edit. If you need to remove a filter, click the X icon, and it will be deleted from both this page and your calendar.
Step 3:
To create a new filter, again click the New hyperlink. Then you will want to fill out the following popup based on the information by which you wish to filter on your calendar.
Note: Items with a red * are required for the popup to save.
- Document Type: Access a variety of document types from your Document Type Manager page. Select the appropriate type to create a specific filter for your calendar.
- Color: Choose a primary color for this document type to be displayed on the calendar for easy identification.
- Secondary Color: This will be unlocked depending on the document type you select for the filter.
- Subject: Select a macro from an index to represent the main subject you want to highlight on the calendar.
- Description Field: Include additional details using macros from the document index page, which will appear below the subject on the calendar.
- Department Field: Similar to the Description Field, this also uses macros from the document index page and will be displayed beneath the subject field.
- Start Date: This will be required to enter a start date depending on the document type you select for the filter.
- End Date: This will be required to enter an end date depending on the document type you select for the filter.
Step 4:
After completing the popup form, click Save and proceed to the Calendar page. Your new filter should now be visible on the left-hand side.
C. Best Practices
- Regular Updates: Regularly update your filters to match current priorities and document types to ensure your calendar reflects the most relevant information.
- Color Coding: Make use of the primary and secondary color options to categorize different document types visually. This aids in quicker identification and reduces the chances of overlooking important items.
- Macro Utilization: For fields such as Subject, Description, and Department, utilize macros effectively from the document index page for comprehensive detailing.
- Mandatory Fields: Always fill out mandatory fields marked with a red asterisk to ensure the filter is saved and works correctly.
- Review and Edit: Periodically review and edit existing filters using the pencil icon to ensure they are up-to-date with changing needs and document types.
D. Troubleshooting
- If a filter is not displaying correctly, check to see if all required fields, especially those marked with a red asterisk, are filled out.
- Ensure that the correct document type is selected; an incorrect selection can cause the filter to function improperly.
- If changes are not being reflected, clear the browser cache or try refreshing the page.
