Introduction

Logging into SCView is a straightforward process that can be accomplished through multiple secure methods, ensuring that users can access their accounts easily and efficiently. This guide outlines the various login options available in SCView, along with step-by-step instructions, to assist users in accessing the application smoothly.

A. Problem Statement

New users or those unfamiliar with SCView might encounter difficulties in logging into the system, especially when choosing from multiple login options or handling login credentials. The complexity increases with the integration of Single Sign-On (SSO) options like Google, Microsoft, and OneLogin.

B. Solution

SCView provides four convenient ways to log into the platform: a traditional login method and three SSO options (Google, Microsoft, and OneLogin). Each method has been designed to cater to different user preferences and IT infrastructure setups, making the login process as flexible and user-friendly as possible.

Step 1: https://www.myscview.com/login.aspx

Step 2: The user can login into the application in four ways:

  1. Login Tab - Enter the Username, Password and Database. Click on the "Login" button
Note: If the user has never logged in before, please contact your admin for your username and initial password.

  1. Google SSO - Google SSO will allow the user to login with their Google account.

B.1 Click on the Google tab, enter the Database name and click on the Login button.

B.2 The user is required to enter their work Gmail account.

B.3 The user will then be logged into the myscview application via SSO.

  1. Microsoft SSO – Microsoft SSO will allow the user to login with their Microsoft account.

C.1 Click on the Microsoft tab, enter the Database name and click on the Login button.

C.2 The user is required to enter their work Microsoft account.

C.3 The user will then be logged into the myscview application via SSO.

  1. OneLogin SSO - OneLogin SSO is different than Google.
Note: Use the return to classic login in to use OneLogin

Steps that are required to generate client id, client secret, and URL. Once these steps have been gathered, need to email to support@scview.com

Note: For any of the SSO accounts Google, Microsoft, or OneLogin, SCView will be unable to troubleshoot the passwords. These are all managed by your IT personnel and platform itself.

Note: When simultaneously accessing two different databases in separate browser tabs, a unique authentication synchronization behavior may occur. Upon switching back to the first database's tab after logging into the second database, a pop-up notification will appear, prompting a page refresh to ensure the current signed-in session is synchronized. Clicking "OK" on the pop-up will trigger a page reload, reflecting the updated authentication state.

C. Best Practices

  • Credential Management: Keep your usernames, passwords, and database names secure but accessible. Regularly update passwords in accordance with your organization’s security policies.
  • Choosing the Right Login Method: Opt for a login method that aligns with your organization’s preferred IT practices. SSO options can simplify login procedures and enhance security.
  • First-time Login: If you are logging in for the first time, ensure that you contact your admin to receive your initial credentials and necessary setup information.
  • Bookmarking the Login Page: Bookmark https://www.myscview.com/login.aspx for quicker access.

D. Troubleshooting

  • Login Errors: If you encounter errors during login, double-check your username, password, and database name for accuracy. Make sure that there are no spaces or typographical errors.
  • SSO Issues: For issues related to SSO via Google, Microsoft, or OneLogin, verify that you are using your official work account associated with that service. If problems persist, contact your IT department as SCView does not manage SSO credentials.
  • Access Denied: If access is denied, ensure you are authorized for access and the account is active. Contact your system administrator if you suspect your credentials are deactivated.
